Tony and Amy both grew up in Audubon. Amy’s dad was a farmer and her mother a housewife. She has an older sister and older brother. After graduating from High School in 1986, she attended NW Missouri State, graduating with a Degree in Education. In addition to substitute teaching, she has had other employment as they moved from Clarinda to Cherokee and finally in 1994 to Atlantic, where she was first employed at the Clarinda Company. In 2002 she went to work for Cass Incorporated where she is currently employed as a Residential Coordinator. Tony’s dad was an Insurance salesman, who died during Tony’s Sr. year in High School. He has a younger brother. Following graduation in 1981, he attended Jr. College in Ft. Dodge for a year. He then returned to work in Audubon at the Furniture Mart. Following their marriage he worked in Clarinda while Amy finished school. It was there that he joined the Lutheran church, having grown up as a Presbyterian. In 1990 they moved to Cherokee, where he was Sports Editor for 3 years. He was then Sport Editor in Atlantic for 4 years, before taking a job at Traco Windows in Red Oak, where he worked for 13 ½ years, before their closing in Feb. 2009.
Tony then went to work for Menard’s in Shelby, where he has worked as a forklift operaterfor 7 years. It was while attending a dance at the Ritz, an Audubon night club, that they met. Amy was a senior in High School, and they dated regularly, including her Sr. Prom. Tony made a surprise proposal in front of the family and they were married on May 28, 1988 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Audubon, (Amy’s home church.) It was a hot day, and a full house. Their honeymoon was spent in Branson. They waited 10 ½ years before beginning their family. Their children include Olivia, a Jr. at Atlantic High School. Besides being manager of the Wrestling Team, she participates in Volley ball, track, and tennis and is on the Student Council. Chloe is an 8th grader and participates in Volleyball, basketball, track and tennis. Both girls have been active in Dance Atlantic, and have been good students academically. Their family also includes Grace, their unique blue and white Chihuahua, which they have had for 9 years.
At Zion, Tony has been an Elder several times and helped with ushering. Amy serves on the Altar Guild. Tony is very sports oriented and likes the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Amy enjoys reading and walking. On TV they are fans of Grey’s Anatomy and the Big Bang Theory. Some day Amy would like to visit Hawaii. We wish them God’s blessings in their lives together.
