There’s a lot going on at Zion. We have all full complement of Governing Board Officers. Weekday is meeting after school on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday School is doing well (could use some more teachers). The fellowship time was wonderful for both Back to Church Services (9-17 & 9-18) and several joined in for the services.

For our proposed handicapped addition, we will be having a meeting with LCEF about conducting a capital campaign on Wednesday, October 12, at 7 PM; all are invited! It is possible for a groundbreaking in the spring if we can raise some funds.

October 1 & 2 will be LWML Sunday; October 8 & 9 Mission Festival for our Camp Okoboji. and October 29 & 30 Reformation Joint Service with Holy Cross and First Lutheran (guest preacher is Rev. Russ Sommerfeld former Nebraska District President and Professor at Concordia University, Seward). From 5:00 to 6:30 PM on Monday, October 31, we will serve our area families by offering Trunk or Treat in our church parking lot. In November, we’ll have our special stewardship campaign with the theme “Stewards Transformed by Grace, Faith, and Love.” Also in November we will have a trial of offering Communion at each one of our weekend services (we’ll discuss reactions at our January Voters Meeting). On November 12 & 13, we’ll have special recognition for our Military Veterans.

Lavone Weirich will be retiring the beginning of November, so we are looking for a another part-time secretary for the church office. Watch the Together and November View for information about a retirement party for Lavone. Indeed, our Lord continues to bless us.

See you in Divine Service,
