Grace, Peace and Mercy to you from God the Father, God the T Son and God the Holy Spirit.

I have been studying the “Right Hand” of God, literally, for several years. I love to study many of the topics that Holy Scripture reveals to us. May the Lord be with us as we explore the “Right Hand” of God

First, we should probably establish the object of this short study. I want to bring you the thesis that the right hand of God is truly our Salvation, even Jesus Christ. As Christians, you would agree that Jesus is part of the Holy Trinity as we confess in the words of the Symbols of the Church, i.e., the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed. Through our Baptism we have our sins washed away, we are imbued with the spiritual gifts that God has prepared for us from the beginning and we are adopted into His holy family. With these two things in mind, the Symbols and our Baptism, “Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.” Romans 8:34 Let’s look at what Scripture describes as the work of His hand. The writer of Hebrews simply tells us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 (ESV) Words like these point us to that which we have confessed in the Symbols laid out above. Showing us the perfecter of our faith as the living and loving God, the Psalmist writes, “11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 (ESV)

Is it not true that faith worked in us, not by our merit or treasure, but by faith in the hope of pleasures forever more, gives us the encouragement we need to do God’s will as we find it in His Book. Not perfectly, but with persistence knowing that the “Right Hand” of God gives us forgiveness of our sin, our guilt and wraps us in His love even forever more.

The following will give you encouragement and hope for your life as a Christian and member of God’s family:

Psalm 17:7

Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand.

Psalm 139:10

even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

Psalm 98:

1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

Psalm 18:35

You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, my prayer is that you have seen the Lord at work and the way that He deals with you even from the beginning. Take advantage of His powerful “Right Hand” for the times in your life when you feel all alone or swamped by life. In Christ you have a steadfast friend who never forsakes you, rather walks with you through this life’s trial’s and temptations so that you might: “Glorify God, Serve Others and Imitate our Savior.
