Kids Come First News

News From Kids Come First- April 2019

There are so many new changes happening with our daycare.  We now have security cameras in the classrooms.  That will help with documentation and such.  We have also welcomed some new friends into our program.  Leprechauns visited our Daycare and left a whole bunch of footprints everywhere.  Our kids had fun trying to find the leprechaun’s hiding spot.  Also, Ms. Alice’s office has changed a bit.  The office has been rearranged to streamline the use of the office, and make it easier for Ms. Alice to work.

KIDS COME FIRST NEWS MARCH 2019

Open 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Kids Come First is looking into what we would need to do to add infants to our day care as that is a big need in our community. We have had the fire marshal come and look at our rooms as well as DHS is helping with this process.

It is hard to believe that I have been with this program as well as Little Lambs for over 13 1/2 years. I started out just working with the Kids Come First for a couple of years and then joined Little Lambs as a para in the four year old class. Seven years ago I became the three-year-old teacher and was helper with the four-year-old class and now, one and half years ago, I became the director of both programs. It has been a privilege to work with the
children and also with the staff that we have here. What a ministry it has been and will continue to be. As most of you know, we will be moving in May to Indiana. This will be such a bittersweet time for me. I am looking forward to the new adventure that God has put before us but I am also very sad to be leaving these children and staff that I have come to love and enjoy working with. I know that God will continue to bless both of these programs
with whoever becomes the next director. I pray that God gives us guidance and direction in which to carry out his ministry.

KIDS COME FIRST NEWS

Open 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Kids Come First is now licensed to accept two year olds.  We have added several new kids to our program.  We have 27 children enrolled in the before and after school program and 18 children from two to five years old.  They do not all come every day but have a different number of children each day.

We have had several days where there is a late start of school.  We find activities that occupy their time and give them a snack before they go to school.

We have set up two different rooms, one is for the smaller children that we call the penguin room and a room for the before and after school kids which we call the crocodile room.  The younger children were the ones who decided on the name for each room.  You are welcome to come on down and check out what we are doing and the fun that we are having.

We do have a need for some new toys in Kids Come First.  If you have or know of someone who would like to donate some thing that would be greatly appreciated.  Some of the things that are needed is: big trucks, farm equipment and farm animals, board games, color books, baby dolls and clothes, Barbie doll clothes, or any other toys for our program.

Open from 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

We have been busy making some decorations for Halloween.  We have made hand print monsters, paper chains, pumpkins and many other crafts.  Come down and see our art work that is hanging on the walls.

We have our Rada fund Raiser going on.  Rada is a company based out of Iowa that sells cutlery as well as some cook books and also some soup mixes.  They would be great gifts for birthdays, wedding or wedding shower gifts as well as Christmas gifts.  If you have any questions or would like to see a catalog please contact Kids Come First or the church office.

In November we are going to do a food drive to help out the food pantry.  We want to teach the children about helping out others who are in need and that we should be thankful for all that God has given us.
