Kids Come First News

February 2018

We are open from 5:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The kids have been busy working on making things for Valentine’s Day.  Come down and see all of our art work that is hanging up on the walls.

During the cold weather we have been playing board games, playing games as a group, and reading books.

In February we will be doing a bake sale Feb. 12th – 14th.  We will have Valentine cookies and brownies that the kids will be making.  We are trying to raise funds to help with our playground.

We still have openings for children ages three to twelve.  If anyone is interested or knows of someone who is in need of child care please let us know and we can get them more information.

Kids Come First

Open from 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

We have forty children enrolled in our daycare program.  We have approximately twelve children that come in the mornings before school.  They are served breakfast and then ride the bus up to school.  We have six children at this time that are here at some point during the day with the possibility of three more starting this next week.  After school we have days where we have up to twenty children that come from school.

After school the children are given a snack, helped with homework, and then given time to play or do activities.  We love to play outside on these beautiful fall days.

We are looking forward to having some things done to our playground.  We are also looking for some new or gently used toys.

Now that school has started it is a little quieter during the day.  We do have children that are here for most of the day.  They are kept busy with doing activities such as playing with playdough, reading to them, doing crafts, playing games, and going outside.  They are also learning their shapes, colors, counting, letters and most of all how to play together.

The Kids Come First kids are picked up at the school and ride the bus down to the church.  When they arrive at Kids Come First, they are given a snack, helped with homework and then kept busy with activities.  With the nice weather we are enjoying being outside as much as possible.

Once Veronica returns from vacation and begins her duties on August 1, we will be setting up an open house for both the 3 year and 4 year old Preschools – watch the Together for information. If you know of a 3 year old or 4 year old in need of preschool, we have openings in both classes.

Kid’s Come First July 2017 Newsletter

Thank you to those who helped us with finishing up our kitchenette and washer/dryer upgrades. With all the children this summer, it has really helped out!  With having the kitchenette, it has helped us to be more efficient in making breakfast and snacks for the kids.  And now with the washer and dryer installed, we are able to do our laundry here at Kids Come First so a staff member doesn’t have to take it home each week.

Some of the activities that Kids Come First do during the week:  On Mondays the school age kids walk to the library in the morning to check out books.  We use these when we have reading time after lunch.

We have been going outside each morning before it gets too hot during the afternoon hours.  We not only enjoy playing on the playground but playing group games such as Frogger, Shark, tag, detective, and Red Rover.

Each week we have a different theme in which we do activities and crafts.  Some of our themes have been Mad Scientist, Ocean and Bugs.

Our hours for Kids Come First is 5:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  We serve breakfast at 6:45 until 7:30 a.m.  We walk to Schuler for lunch at approximately 11:00 each day.  Preschoolers have rest time each day while the school age kids have reading time.  During the rest of the day we are busy with many activities whether it be doing a craft, learning activity, free play, outside play, or playing games.

February 2017 News

The preschoolers had a great time on February 13th and 14th not only with having a Valentine’s Day party but their mom’s came to join them for the day. We had several activities for them to do along with decorating a valentine box, making cinnamon rolls, and playing with their moms.

The preschoolers have started a study of clothes. We have started by looking at the clothes that we wear and how everyone is wearing something different. We are going to learn how to make soap and find out what kind of soap makes the most bubbles, liquid soap or powdered soap. We will also be looking at how clothes are made and different materials that clothes are made from. Another part of our study will be looking at how people from different countries or professions wear different kinds of clothes. If you have anything from another country or something that is different and would like to share with the preschoolers please let us know.

Little Lambs and Kid’s Come First enjoyed the nice weather that we had in February. We took advantage of it and played outside as much as we could.

We are enjoying the new awning over the Preschool/Daycare outside door that was donated by Kelly and Carol Schlake (Thank You!). Also, we are anxiously waiting to have the washer and dryer to be installed soon. This will help so the staff will not have to take the laundry home but be able to do it during the time that we are there. Remember that we are saving Campbell Soup Labels for Education.
