Kids Come First

Open from 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

We have been busy making some decorations for Halloween.  We have made hand print monsters, paper chains, pumpkins and many other crafts.  Come down and see our art work that is hanging on the walls.

We have our Rada fund Raiser going on.  Rada is a company based out of Iowa that sells cutlery as well as some cook books and also some soup mixes.  They would be great gifts for birthdays, wedding or wedding shower gifts as well as Christmas gifts.  If you have any questions or would like to see a catalog please contact Kids Come First or the church office.

In November we are going to do a food drive to help out the food pantry.  We want to teach the children about helping out others who are in need and that we should be thankful for all that God has given us.

Kids Come First

Open from 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Thank you to Janet and Fred Klute, Marie Parrott and Mike Parrott for putting up the fencing north of the playground. This will give the kids a fenced-in area to play and also makes us compliant with QPPS, (Quality Preschool Program Standards) which states that we need to have a fenced in area for the children to be able to play.

The kids have been having fun playing with play dough and making slime. The staff has been reading books to them and then do an activity that goes along with the book.

We still have openings for children ages three to twelve. If you know of anyone in need of daycare, have them come in and talk with Kids Come First. Parents only have to pay for the times that they are clocked into the system.

If you would like to come and read to our Kids Come First or to the preschoolers you are welcome to do so. Just let us know a day or two ahead that you are coming and what time you would like to come so that we are able to adjust our schedules.

Kids Come First

Open from 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

The hallways and classroom are a lot quieter during the day as the older kids have returned back to school.  Things are still busy in the early mornings with making and serving breakfast before the kids get on the bus.  We have been serving breakfast to an average of six kids in the mornings.  After school we are up there to make sure all the kids get on the bus to come back down to Kids Come First.  We take the bus after school so that we only need one staff person to go and get them, with walking the kids we would have to have two staff people.  On average we have fifteen kids that come back to Kids Come First.

After school we are busy having a snack and then it is time to get homework done.  Once that is done then it is time to have some fun.  We do crafts, play games or go outside to play on the grassy areas.  We are anxiously waiting for our playground to get done.  We are waiting for the cement to get poured for the tricycle track.  Once that is done we will be able to put down our rubber mulch and then put all of the equipment back in.

During the day we have four to five children that are here all day.  We play games, do some crafts, learn to play together, read books and just have some fun.  We serve them a morning snack but kids bring their own lunches with them.

We also have openings for Kids Come First.  We take children from three years of age up to twelve.

Kids Come First

Kids Come First  (712-243-7797) Open from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m.

I want to thank my staff for the great job that they did when they took the kids to the splash pad on Friday, June 29th.  That was the day that the storm came up when no one was expecting it to.  The kids and staff had been at the splash pad for an hour when the storm hit.  They were able to get to the bus safely but then when the sirens went off went to the bathrooms there at the splash pad.  The driver of the SWITA bus called the court house in Walnut to find a safe spot for our staff and kids to go to.  They went to the school and hung out there until the storm was over.  They did an awesome job in keeping our kids safe and calm.  Our trainings do come in handy when needed.

The children also attended Vacation Bible School the week of July 9th form 9:00 to 11:30am

The kids enjoy doing arts and crafts.  In the first picture Aaliyah is painting with the kids and in the second picture, Liz is doing a science experiment.  We also made witness bracelets for Ellie Menz and tied bandages using white sheets.  If anyone has white flat sheets that they no longer need we will take them.  We cut and tear them into three to four inch strips and then roll them up.                                                Director, Alice Davidson

Open from 5:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Kids Come First has had a very busy summer so far.  On days when it is not raining we enjoy being outside.  We are very anxious for the playground to get done.  We are waiting for the cement to get poured for the tricycle track.  After that is done we will be putting down landscaping paper and then rubber mulch.

We have gone to Sunny Side Pool to go swimming and on Thursday, June 28th, we are going to the splash pad in Walnut.  We look forward to those times when we can play in the water.  There are also some days when we are able to play in the sprinkler and do a slip and slide here at Kid’s Come First.

Miss Aaliyah has been having fun doing face painting with us.  She has been very creative doing our faces.  This picture is of Lynsie having a tiger painted on her face.

We have been walking to Schuler each day for the free lunch program.  We have not had too many days when we are not able to walk and need to have lunch down at Kids Come First.  Thank you Mrs. Alice for providing lunches on those days.

Cross Roads (Formally Cass Incorporated) has been doing our grocery shopping for us each week.  They enjoy coming down and seeing the kids.  After they are done with grocery shopping they have read to the kids.  Thank you Cross Roads for doing this.
