Ed and Lois’ first date was a blind date, arranged by friends. In May, 1965, Ed was drafted and spent time in Ft. Leonard, Mo. and Ft. Polk, Shreveport, La. When he knew he was going to be shipped overseas, he called Lois and ask her if she wanted to get married. She flew to Ft. Polk and they were married 3 days later, on October 15, 1965. 150 servicemen attended the wedding, showering them with 100 pounds of rice. There were no women in the wedding party. Ed was then shipped to Germany, where Lois later joined him. Following his tour of duty they returned to their lives and jobs in Atlantic.
